High-strength vitamin C with humectant support

This concentrated aqueous serum pairs 20% L-ascorbic acid with vitamin E and ferulic acid. Panthenol, propylene glycol and sodium hyaluronate add water-binding support without turning the treatment into a rich moisturiser.

Who might it suit?

  • Dullness and uneven-looking tone: for someone seeking a disclosed ascorbic acid treatment.
  • A lightweight routine: suitable for people who prefer a thin serum under moisturiser.
  • Antioxidant-focused care: a supporting step alongside daily sunscreen, not a substitute for it.

Acidic vitamin C can still sting or irritate, even when a formula is marketed as gentle. Introduce gradually and stop if persistent irritation develops. Official product information.

What does the 20% refer to?

The disclosed 20% refers to L-ascorbic acid, the unmodified form of vitamin C. It is not a combined vitamin C complex or a derivative percentage. Supporting ingredient levels are not all disclosed, so their concentrations cannot be calculated from INCI order. Official product information.

Listed pH: Not disclosed on the reviewed official listing.

Ingredients grouped by function

Ingredients are grouped by their estimated primary role in this formula; some ingredients have more than one function.

Function Ingredients Role in formula
Function: Primary Actives Ingredients: l-ascorbic acid Role in formula: L-ascorbic acid supplies the central antioxidant and tone-focused function.
Function: Antioxidants Ingredients: alpha tocopherol, ferulic acid Role in formula: Vitamin E and ferulic acid provide complementary antioxidant roles.
Function: Humectants & Hydration Actives Ingredients: propylene glycol, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate Role in formula: Propylene glycol, panthenol and sodium hyaluronate support water retention.
Function: Solvents Ingredients: water, ethoxydiglycol Role in formula: Water and ethoxydiglycol support the aqueous delivery system.
Function: Solubilizers Ingredients: polysorbate 80 Role in formula: Helps incorporate the lipophilic antioxidant into the aqueous system.
Function: Preservatives & Antimicrobial Agents Ingredients: benzylalcohol, dehydroacetic acid Role in formula: Protect the formula from microbial contamination.

The key ingredients, explained

Ingredient What it contributes
Ingredient: L-ascorbic acid · 20% What it contributes: The central antioxidant ingredient and a cofactor in collagen-related biology. Topical performance still depends on the vehicle and stability.
Ingredient: Ferulic acid What it contributes: A complementary phenolic antioxidant. Inclusion supports the design rationale without proving the exact synergy of a different tested formula.
Ingredient: Vitamin E What it contributes: Lipid-phase antioxidant support. The label identifies alpha tocopherol.
Ingredient: Panthenol and sodium hyaluronate What it contributes: Water-binding and conditioning support alongside propylene glycol. They do not make the serum an occlusive moisturiser.

Concentrated vitamin C with a light hydration layer

Ethoxydiglycol and propylene glycol form a practical solvent environment for the antioxidant ingredients. The accompanying humectants contribute comfort, but the formula does not supply a substantial oil or barrier-lipid phase. A 20% label describes concentration, not proof of better results than a lower-strength serum.

Reading the claims carefully

The official listing describes opaque pump packaging and current glass bottles, with refrigeration recommended. It summarises a 28-day study in 21 participants, including participant-reported improvements. The full protocol, comparator and results are not supplied, so this does not establish superiority or isolate the effects of any single ingredient. Vitamin E and ferulic acid percentages are not disclosed. Official product information.

What published vitamin C research tells us

These studies examined other formulations; they support ingredient rationale, not a claim that this serum has the same measured results.

Topical vitamin C and photoaged skin

A six-month placebo-controlled study of 5% vitamin C cream reported improvements in skin-surface and clinical measures. It used a different vehicle and concentration. Humbert et al., 2003.

Ascorbic acid and facial skin texture

A three-month split-face trial in 19 evaluable participants found improvements with another commercial serum versus vehicle. Its small sample and limited skin-type range constrain generalisation. Traikovich, 1999.

Our assessment

Timeless suits a concentrated vitamin C routine when a light serum and pump packaging are priorities. This serum earns an Overall Rating of 4.25 stars in our comparison of 15 vitamin C serums.

At the comparison regular price checked on 1 November 2026 of US$27.95 for approximately 30 mL, the converted cost is approximately A$39.70 per bottle or A$13.23 per 10 mL. This is competitively priced for a disclosed 20% L-ascorbic acid serum within the comparison. Its practical value depends on tolerance and using it while fresh; a higher percentage offers little benefit if it prevents consistent use. The conversion uses the RBA rate for 30 October 2026 and excludes delivery, import charges and currency fees; the total purchase cost can change the value assessment.
